Front of House Assistant
As a Front of House Team Member at Metric, you will be one of the first points of contact for our members and guests. You’ll help create a welcoming, friendly and professional environment, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the club.

- This is a zero-hours role, with shifts offered according to the needs of the business. Shift patterns will be communicated fortnightly, providing visibility of upcoming shifts. Flexibility around early starts, evenings and weekends will be required.
Summary of the role:
As a Front of House Team Member at Metric, you will be one of the first points of contact for our members and guests. You’ll help create a welcoming, friendly and professional environment, while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the club.
This is a varied, hands-on role. One minute you could be welcoming a member, the next making a coffee, answering a golf-related question, helping with a membership query or making sure the front of house and café areas are clean and presentable.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who will bring energy, warmth and enthusiasm to Metric. You don’t need to know everything on day one, but you do need to be willing to learn, get stuck in and make every member and guest feel welcome.
We’re looking for someone who is naturally friendly, proactive and genuinely enjoys helping people. An interest in golf is essential.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome members and guests to the club in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide excellent customer service and create a positive experience from arrival onwards
- Respond to membership queries and direct more complex queries to the appropriate person
- Answer general golf and club-related questions, providing helpful and accurate information
- Support members with basic technical golf queries where appropriate
- Run the café area, including preparing and serving coffees and other refreshments
- Take orders and handle payments accurately
- Keep the café, reception and wider front of house areas clean, tidy and well presented
- Ensure equipment, refreshments and front of house supplies are adequately stocked
- Help with opening and closing duties as required
- Support the wider team with events, activities and other tasks as needed
- Follow all relevant health, safety, cleanliness and operational procedures
- Be proactive in identifying things that need doing and getting involved without always being asked
What we're looking for
Experience
- Previous customer service or hospitality experience is desirable
- Experience working in a café, bar, reception or leisure environment is advantageous
- Golf experience or knowledge is essential
- Golf membership and/or an active handicap is preferable
Skills & knowledge
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident and comfortable speaking with a wide range of people
- Good understanding of golf and common golf terminology
- Able to learn and confidently answer technical golf and membership queries
- Comfortable making coffees and serving customers
- Organised and able to manage several tasks at once
