Front of House Supervisor

This role needs you to take responsibility for the smooth running of the front of house operation during your shifts, ensuring our members and guests receive a consistently warm, professional and engaging experience.

Working pattern
This role will involve working a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends as required. Shift patterns will be communicated fortnightly.

Summary of the role:

This role needs you to take responsibility for the smooth running of the front of house operation during your shifts, ensuring our members and guests receive a consistently warm, professional and engaging experience.

You’ll lead by example, combining excellent customer service with the practical running of reception and the café. You’ll be comfortable dealing with membership and golf-related queries, making coffees, supporting the team and taking ownership of anything that needs doing.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being at the centre of the action and is confident taking responsibility when required.

Key responsibilities

Front of house & customer experience

  • Lead the front of house operation during your shift
  • Welcome members and guests and ensure everyone receives a warm, professional service
  • Build positive relationships with members and provide a consistently high level of customer service
  • Deal confidently with membership queries, escalating more complex matters where appropriate
  • Handle golf and club-related questions and provide support with technical golf queries
  • Act as a knowledgeable and approachable point of contact for members and guests

Café operation

  • Oversee the smooth running of the café during your shift
  • Prepare and serve coffees, refreshments and other products to a consistently high standard
  • Ensure the café is clean, organised, stocked and ready for service
  • Manage orders and payments accurately
  • Monitor stock levels and highlight replenishment requirements

Team and standards

  • Lead by example and support Front of House Team Members during shifts
  • Allocate and prioritise tasks to ensure the club is always clean, tidy and ready for members
  • Maintain high standards across reception, café and front of house areas
  • Support the training and development of new team members
  • Ensure team members follow agreed procedures and standards
  • Take responsibility for resolving day-to-day issues and escalate where necessary

Club operations

  • Support opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure the front of house operation runs smoothly throughout the shift
  • Support events, activities and other club requirements
  • Follow all relevant health, safety, cleanliness and operational procedures
  • Be proactive and willing to get involved in whatever is required to keep the club running effectively

What we're looking for

Experience

  • Previous customer service, hospitality, leisure or front of house experience
  • Previous supervisory or team-leading experience is desirable
  • Experience within a café, hospitality, leisure or golf environment is advantageous
  • Strong knowledge and interest in golf is preferable, supported by a golf membership and/or an active handicap

Skills & knowledge

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confident dealing with members, guests and colleagues
  • Good understanding of golf, including common terminology and basic technical queries
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Comfortable making coffees and overseeing café operations
  • Organised, practical and able to prioritise effectively
  • Confident taking responsibility and making decisions during a shift
  • Food and hygiene certificate
  • Allergen awareness

The person

We’re looking for someone with energy, confidence and a genuine passion for people and golf. You’ll be someone who naturally takes ownership, spots what needs doing and gets on with it.

Flexibility and reliability are important, as the Supervisor will play a key role in ensuring the front of house operation is appropriately covered.

You’ll be just as comfortable welcoming a new member as you are making a coffee, answering a golf question, dealing with a membership query or helping the team get the club ready for the next day.
